Trying to write spiritual copy without the pure energetic intent to back it up gets my official ‘thumbs down.’

I notice an interesting phenomenon. More and more heart-based entrepreneurs find me and tell me about nightmarish stories of copywriters who are ‘faking’ the spiritual copywriting process. As in: trying to write spiritual copy without the pure energetic intent to back it up.

What’s the result for these business owners who place their trust in copywriters who try to capture the ‘enlightened’ market for monetary (or other) gain? Pure disappointment and loss of time, money and confidence in delegating these important marketing tasks.

As one of the few copywriters who truly understands the energetics behind copy developed based on service- and spiritual-oriented principles, I do a lot of damage control and trust-rebuilding. It hurts my heart deeply to hear these stories.

For anyone ‘faking it,’ it is absolutely and unequivocally impossible to deliver real, resonant copy. Why? Because even if the business owner cannot articulate it, they intuit that something is amiss. The initial conversation will feel ‘off.’ And if they proceed in hiring in spite of their inner guidance, the content will be unaligned with the mission and message. I interpret this as a Divine mechanism that disallows creative flow that hits the mark (aka delivers content that is spot-on). Results can only ever be inferior.

Let me widen this lens…

No matter what business you’re in, you cannot fake authenticity. You cannot fake a genuine heart-of-service. And you cannot fake energetics that are directly linked to both. You are either true to your integrity or not. You are either true to your service to humanity or not. There is no in-between, and there’s no room for compromise. Attempts to ‘fake it’ leave an impression that you’re an imposter; maybe not your intent, but true nevertheless.

So, if you’re in the market for a copywriter who understands your heart-motivated market, effortlessly captures your voice and writes like you would, and infuses the content with a high vibration of service and results, what are the things to look (and feel) for?

Here is a list of the 5 indicators of someone who can deliver on what they promise:

  1. You and they will have an instant rapport.
  2. They will ‘speak your language.’
  3. You will feel that you’ve known them ‘forever.’
  4. Their Web site and other marketing materials will feel like the answer to your prayers/the perfect solution for your business needs.
  5. They will have a portfolio of projects similar to the project for which you require copy.
  6. BONUS! They will have testimonials from people within the same or similar industries as yours.

(Note that these guidelines also work for feeling/finding other service providers.)

The task of delegating to others may not be easy, especially at first, but it is essential to grow your business. You cannot possibly fill every role within your company and expand. Delegation is a necessity. By trusting your guidance based on how you feel during your initial interaction with service professionals, you will always make wise choices. You can be sure of it, because it is a built-in system to support you in navigating life, but you must listen and act on it! (And move on quickly when something doesn’t feel right to you.)

what is “Conscious Copywriting” and why it catapults your business success

‘Conscious Copywriting’ is a divinely-inspired combination of traditional copywriting and heart-based language infused with the spirit of genuine service to promote a product, a business, a person or an idea; and carefully selecting, editing, weaving and constructing those words to objectively invite the reader to take a specific and measurable action. ~Charlon Bobo

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Conscious copywriting assumes that consumers accurately intuit the intent behind your words, and they do. Even when they cannot precisely identify or articulate it, they feel when they’re being “sold” or if your sales agenda lacks integrity. It’s the unspoken energy of words; on an instinctual feeling level, they just know!

Words contain and emanate energy.

As one who is heart- and service-centered yourself, it’s very likely your audience is, as well. Your prospects won’t respond to fear-based, overtly-manipulative or subtly-scheming language, or the vibration attached to them. Why? Because these traditional copywriting tactics are not aligned with the new earth energies of transparency, integrity and authenticity.

When your conscious copywriting captures the attention of prospects with honesty, the intent behind your words has done its job: to leave a positive impression; a resonance of truth and trust for an ongoing relationship.

As consumers, we distinctly remember being delighted by a product or service. As human beings, similarly, we remember being delighted by a genuine connection. Being delighted just feels good. And feeling good produces electric impulses in the brain, releasing chemicals like oxytocin. Based on the results of one study, interestingly, a release of oxytocin increased trust and reduced fear in the test subjects. The level of trust was twice as high as those in the control group!1(Remember this as you develop your next marketing piece; it’s important.)

What’s the primary difference between traditional copywriting and conscious copywriting?

Conscious copywriting is distinctly different from traditional copywriting in that its primary objective is to serve. Traditional copywriting uses methods intended exclusively to sell, often imploring tactics to accentuate pain or manipulatethe reader to action, as mentioned above. Conscious copywriting is infused with the genuine desire to provide a valuable product or service to enhance and enrich the purchaser’s life. You won’t see slippery sales tactics involved in conscious copywriting. Not only does it not work, it leaves the reader with the sense that you are not a part of their success team.

Whether you write blog posts, articles, special reports, books, eBooks, web site content, tri-fold brochures, sales letters for a product, service or event, or product descriptions, infuse them with heart. How? With the 7 Elemental Facets of Heart-focused Copywriting.

The 7 Elemental Facets of Heart-focused Copywriting to Engage and Enchant your Audience

They became my reliable, go-to foundation. The more I focused on how to align my writing with them, the better they worked. And they will work for you, too. They are:

  1. Be real
  2. Inject your personality
  3. Reveal something personal
  4. Highlight benefits to the reader
  5. Focus on creating a connection
  6. Use language that is fully transparent
  7. Offer products or services intended to truly serve

evolutionary copywriting principles to (r)evolutionize your business

changing industries, copywriting, evolutionary, principles, traditional copywriting

2017As is true within many industries during these evolutionary times, what has worked for decades no longer applies. Time-tested principles, systems and approaches have already been replaced (at least energetically); nothing will ever be the same.

It is happening right before our eyes. We are in unprecedented times that require brand new skills. And it’s completely your choice about how willingly you adopt and implement these fresh perspectives to enrich your business and your life.

Traditional copywriting methods have changed dramatically in the past few years as we individually and collectively align more with the heart. (Know that this is the key to everything moving forward! YES, even business.)

As time passes, you will see less copy that accentuates the reader’s pain, uses manipulative language and emphasizes urgency. You will see much more copy based on the three prominent principles explored below. These points will guide you in developing high-impact copy so your business thrives in 2017 and beyond.

Principle #1: Service vs. Selling

Successful copywriting now focuses solely on service. If you are still trying to sell, switch your tactics. Selling no longer works. Your prospects don’t need to be convinced; they simply need to know what you’re offering so they can make the best decision for themselves.

And forego the obnoxious formatting schemes; yellow highlighting, extensive bolding and the use of different fonts is a visual and energetic assault. Make your presentation clean, pleasant and as succinct as possible while still providing all the necessary information for your prospect to decide whether or not this offer is a good fit for them.

Principle #2: Copy Infused with Pure Intent

Heart-based copy has a unique vibrance to it; a vibrance you cannot fake. You can use the “correct,” new-age, heart language and yet if your content lacks the energy of pure intent, sales will be negatively impacted.

If you’re a heart-based business owner, it’s very likely your ideal customers are heart-based, as well. Connect to the heart of your audience with a genuine intent to serve them and they’ll feel it. If they decide to purchase from you, great! If they don’t, they will feel and appreciate your intention anyway. That’s still a much better impression to leave than one of slippery sales tactics that use the right words, but lack integrity. To your reader, your message will feel misaligned energetically. Remember: your audience can feel the difference!

As you write, consciously infuse the letters, the words and the sentences with grounded purity that they serve the highest interest of all who read them. As a result, your readers will notice a distinct difference between your copy and the copy of other-even conscious-business owners.

Principle #3: In-the-moment Creation

If there’s one skill I recommend mastering for the future, it’s the ability to trust the current moment to guide you to your next great creation, collaboration or copy.

Going, going, gone are the days when your linear, left-brain came up with the language to market your products or services based on traditional copywriting training. The new approach to copywriting isn’t cerebral or formulaic; it comes straight from the heart. That’s why it is such a natural match for female entrepreneurs.

From this point forward, everything juicy will come directly from your heart, with the left-brain engaged only to develop a method to implement what the heart has inspired. Yes, the left hemisphere has a purpose, but it will be working much less as we rely much more on the guiding wisdom of the heart.

You’ll notice that if you are aligned with the spirit of true service and you trust the creative process when you develop your copy, writing flows effortlessly. This is one of the Divine dispensations that is being gifted to us as we navigate new business principles during The Shift.

The more you practice this moment-by-moment trusting, the easier it becomes. Promise!

In Conclusion

Now that you know the three copywriting principles for 2017 and beyond, it’s natural to think that this is too simple to work effectively… and you couldn’t be more misguided if this is your assumption.

Collectively we have recently opened portals that allow for much greater ease, flow and success in (every fact of life including) business. Why not actively align yourself with the future of effective copywriting, especially if it means you will invest less of your precious resources and achieve better results?

(r)evolutionary copywriting is NOT about selling, it’s about…

Attempts to influence the sale are so tired. And they’re losing their effectiveness.

Whether you write your own marketing content or you hire a pro, it’s important to understand how the industries of copywriting and marketing are changing to incorporate spiritual writing principles that work.

Traditional copywriting and marketing methods include subtle (and not-so-subtle) manipulation, and calculated pain-accentuation targeted to the ego (which is always looking for ways to be pain- and care-free). They also address the more fragile aspects of the mainstream personality with an emphasis on limit, lack or keeping pace with others.

Take a moment to reread and feel that last paragraph. How does it feel? As a consumer, do you prefer to be on the receiving end of marketing efforts that contain such a low vibration that it may not even be measurable? Probably not. And, if you don’t want to feel this, why would you inflict this on your beloved customers and clients? The fact is: you wouldn’t and I’ll tell you what you can do differently RIGHT NOW to model New Age business practices.

It’s called by many names: spiritual copywriting, heart-based copywriting, conscious copywriting, evolutionary copywriting, revolutionary copywriting, etc.

The new copywriting approach touts
service, not selling;
an invitation, not a manipulation

As a business owner it is your job to write about what you do with an emphasis on service, ending with an integrity-based invitation. Your readers will know if your offer is right for them. You don’t need to convince anyone of any thing. You’re not in the business of selling. That’s too hard, it’s unnecessary and it doesn’t even work.

When you consciously place yourself in service, your copy takes on a new, higher vibration. It attracts the perfect customers who are ready and happy to pay you for your offerings. There is a true connection. There is resonance. There is the basis of a mutually-beneficial long term relationship.

So, what can you do right now to shift into the serving/invitation heartset (vs. mindset)?

Action item #1: Before you write your copy, get out of the selling mindset. In fact, get out of your mind altogether. Divine copy doesn’t come from your left brain. It comes quite naturally by being a willing conduit of service to humanity via your business. When you access your inner spiritual copywriter via Divine flow, you’ll be amazed at what comes through you.

Action item #2: Remember, you’re not trying to convince anyone of any thing. Before you begin writing, ask yourself:

  • How would I write about my products or services if I weren’t trying to convince (sell)?
  • What language (specific words) would I use to serve (instead of sell)?
  • What would I want my readers to feel as they read my offer(s)?

These two action items activate a new writing style; one that’s way more effective and memorable than being the one who accentuated fear, pain and lack. Oh, they’ll remember you if you implement these old-paradigm tactics, but it won’t be a pleasant memory. You want to leave a positive impression. And with heart- and service-based copywriting, you will.

service + invitation = new paradigm business solutions

*****

(Stay tuned for next week’s feature about faking spiritual writing principles. You don’t want to miss this. HINT: a Divine mechanism is in place to make ‘faking it’ impossible! Until then, be blessed and be well.)
