The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain. Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter’s oven?

When you’re “in it” it is a near-impossible task to see the beauty and perfection of life’s happenings.

Years ago I wondered:

If I can look back at an experience and see the wisdom and value in
experience, why cannot I feel the fullness, wisdom and value WHILE I’m
going through it? Further, why cannot it be my conscious experience that
BEFORE I go through an experience, I sense what’s coming and go
into it willingly, welcoming whatever comes, knowing there will be a value
for me?

Are you willing to be the person who purposely leans into all of life’s experiences (especially the sorrowful ones) and allows the fire of life to refine you? To break open your heart just like the seeds in the forest that only open after a wildfire? (It’s no coincidence that nature and we are connected by so many parallels.)

If so, you will experience the fullness of joy, because that is the natural result of being actively and fully engaged in life; in What Is, regardless of circumstances. When you allow life to live you (instead of the reverse), there is a sweet, silent peace that wraps your heart and assures you that All Is Well and that circumstances have no innate power to destroy you. Circumstances only allow you to choose what you will take from them. You are ultimately defined by how much you allow life to shape and refine you by being a willing participant in all life’s experiences.
